Liu Observer Volume 35 - Shedding Labels from Twenty Years Ago and Living a Brilliant Life of One’s Own Over the past four decades, the children served and trained by the LEC program have faced a wide variety of challenges. Some struggled to focus on their studies or keep up with classwork, earning them labels like "attention-deficitissues"; others could hear sounds but struggled to effectively receive and process information; and some appeared withdrawn in social interactions, finding it difficult to connect with those around them. Underlying these diverse issues was often a direct link to the development of the children's visual, auditory, and sensory motor (VAS) learning abilities. The LEC training program focuses not merely on improving a child's outward academic performance or behavior, but on training the fundamental abilities that underpin learning itself. Over the years, we have witnessed—and helped—countless children and families regain their confidence in learning. The two cases shared below involve students who graduated from the LEC's Los Angeles branch. Twenty years ago, when they underwent LEC's learning ability training, both were students in the same special education class taught by Ms. Sandra Guo; both also received guidance and support from Ms. Victoria Kao, the wife of the LEC founder Dr. Herbert Liu. Today, twenty years later, thanks to updates provided by Victoria, we can once again witness the real lives these children have built as adults and see the profound, lasting impact of having established strong learning abilities.

Liu Observer Volume 34 - Founder Dr. Liu Discusses What LEC Teaches The LEC teaches the "learning ability" that children must develop year by year as they grow older. To master the coursework for a specific grade, a child's learning ability must match the level typical for their age; yet, some children lag behind. In a single classroom, there may be students born in September of the previous year alongside those born in July or August of the current year—a potential gap of a full year in developmental age. A one-year disparity in ability has a profound impact on a child. This is especially true for children who develop more slowly, those who are "late bloomers," or those who simply mature at a different pace; they are not starting from the same line. However, traditional educational philosophies offer no concrete methods to assist these children. Teachers often rely on outdated mindsets, attributing learning difficulties to issues like a "lack of focus," "lack of interest," "lack of confidence," or "unwillingness to learn." Yet, few consider this: if these same children were to revisit today's coursework two or three years later and succeed, would it be because they had suddenly gained the ability to "focus"? Of course not. It would be because their underlying abilities had matured. Conversely, if we could boost a child's "learning ability" by the equivalent of one or two years—surpassing that of their classmates—wouldn't their learning become much easier? The concept of enhancing intelligence in this way was explored in cognitive psychology during the 1970s, though it failed to yield tangible results at the time. LEC's VAS method has been applied in this field for nearly fifty years, focusing on cultivating the "learning ability" that children must develop as they grow.

Liu Observer Volume 33 - We Moved! Over 20 Years of Companionship, A New Beginning in Kaohsiung" "When I first joined LEC, I studied every book written by Dr. Liu, and through practical operations, I constantly thought about how to help children improve. From accumulating experience to finally enjoying the joy of teaching, more than 20 years have passed in the blink of an eye," recalled Tina Lee, Director of the Southern Taiwan and Disctrict Manager of Kaohsiung Branch. As Director Lee said, the Kaohsiung branch has been deeply rooted in the local community for over 20 years, helping many children progress and grow, and recording countless touching stories. As the number of people served gradually increased, problems such as the small space within the branch and outdated equipment gradually emerged. Therefore, we found a new location and held a grand opening ceremony for the relocation on November 23, 2025. To allow existing parents to maintain their convenience, the new classroom is located next to the old location. The space is quite spacious, making it LEC's largest branch in Taiwan. The partitions feature multiple glass walls to increase the openness of the space and facilitate smoother classroom movement. In addition to having their own private teaching spaces, the open design allows for more interaction between teachers and children. Separate consultation rooms and meeting rooms enhance the professional feel. Most importantly, the overall training and activity space for children has been significantly increased! "We hope that the newly renovated Kaohsiung branch will build a better reputation and help more children in need," said the Director Lee.

Liu Observer Volume 32 - Holding hands with children, we move forward hand in hand. "From planning, opening, expanding, and ultimately stabilizing a branch, it's a journey of continuous growth and development for both myself and the team. I also look forward to the outstanding Manager Claire making a difference on this new stage and leading the Nankan team to continue helping more children." This is the hope of District Director Lynn for the Nankan branch. "Establishing the new Nankan branch is a responsibility, but also a process of realizing my inner convictions. I hope to challenge myself through this opportunity, moving from a teaching implementer to a team operator and cultural inheritor/builder. I hope to learn how to create a stable, professional, and warm classroom. I also aspire to lead teachers and colleagues in continuous learning, mutual achievement, and shared well-being." This is Manager Claire's aspiration for herself. She says she will always remember a quote Dr. Liu said when she first joined: "Do complex things simply, and you'll be an expert! Do simple things repeatedly, and you'll be a scholar! Do repetitive things with care, and you'll be a winner!" With this conviction, Manager Claire has continued to reach her current position. She hopes to build a place where parents are filled with hope and where every child can be securely embraced. The Nankan branch will be that place of strength.

Every child and family who comes to LEC may have different learning challenges or difficulties, but what is the same is the teacher's passion for each child and how to turn these children's learning journey around through training of VAS learning abilities. Today I would like to share with you two stories of the Hsinchu branch, led by District Manager Jane Li, who has handled countless cases and nearly 30 years of teaching experiences. In addition to leading two teachers to constantly improve their teaching expertise, District Manager Jane Li also leads all students and families in the Hsinchu branch to continuously break through learning difficulties and overcome various challenges in life. She said: "Education is a patient companionship and guidance. It is not about filling a container, but lighting a lamp. Let the children find their own light, which is the most valuable achievement afterall."

The summer of 2024 at the Haidian, Chaoyang andOlympic Parkbranches of Liu Education Beijing District is full of excitement, and the first summer training class designed with an all-round development concept has successfully concluded! Children participating in the summer school have made qualitative leaps in subject and sensory motor abilities under the intensive audio-visual and dynamic training. The diversity and richness of the theme courses also provide the children with a lot of fun, showing the children's unique ideas and artistic inner nature, fully embodied happy learning. Liu Observer Volume 27 - Always Helping Each Other Is What The Brand New Shilin Branch Is All About Liu's Education has many students from Shilin, Beitou and Tamsui, and they often face the hardship of traveling to and from our branches. Therefore, after careful planning and searching for a suitable location, we finally found an office close to Shilin MRT station. The Shilin district is known for being close to international schools, and it is also often labeled as "Many scholars like a forest". We have now established our new Shilin branch! The highly precise AI can even imitate well-known singers and create almost authentic results. Mr. Morris Chang, thefounder of TSMC, also expressed in an exclusive interview with CommonWealth Magazine: "Many jobs will be replaced by AI in the next 25 years." The rapidly changing technology makes us wonder, in addition to disappearing jobs, will the current lifestyle and work environment, and even the methods and purposes of education, also be affected? With the advancement of technology, the first challenge teachers face is the change in their role.
